Pearls Girl At Home Kim Sarosi!

So many of our visitors are dazzled by our beautiful jewelry collection Sarosi by Timeless Gems, so we're delighted to introduce the designer and owner behind it Kim Hurlbert Sarosi. She's been involved in the jewelry business all her life, so she knows about romance.

In fact, Kim's career is quite a love story. She now runs a jewelry empire that she and her late husband created over thirty-five years ago. Andrew Sarosi was a charming, prominent gemstone dealer, and Kim a talented jewelry designer, gemologist, and goldsmith who became a dynamic duo that worked side by side.  They built a world wide jewelry business and a beautiful life together. They shared their love for colored gemstones, jewelry design, and their two daughters.

Kim's knowledge, experience, and honesty have earned her the respect of her peers and the trust of her clients, many of whom have been with her for decades. Most of her pieces in her jewelry collection are custom-designed and handmade, using the finest gemstones, diamonds, and high karat gold and platinum. She also started the jewelry program at FIDM so she could share her passion for jewelry design with the next generation.

Kim recently remodeled her gorgeous home in the San Rafael neighborhood of Pasadena. Her modern home has an "Asian Craftsman" style that is so unique it even has its own island. Thank you for welcoming us into your home, modeling our new spring collections, and bringing so much beauty to the world Kim!

Our visit with Kim...

Why is jewelry a special Valentine's Day gift?: Jewelry conveys a romantic message to the recipient and it makes them feel special.

How did you become everyone's favorite jeweler?: I love what I do and I love to make people happy! I have always been interested in the beauty of nature. Maybe my enthusiasm rubs off on others. Precious gemstones are such a miraculous result of heat, pressure and chemicals that combined deep in the earth. As they say: “A diamond is just a lump of coal that made good under heat and pressure.” So true! What a miracle of nature!!

Your Personal Style?:  I would describe my personal style as classic with a twist. I like subtle details. Timeless!

Favorite Pearls Purchase?: That’s a hard one! Maybe the black fur belt or the silver and gold crushed velvet evening bag? I treasure things forever.  I still get compliments on them!!

What's the best part of living in San Marino?:
I like the fact that it IS such a community. People are focused on their families and groups of  friends and they know their neighbors. Originally, I wanted to move to Pasadena because of the old trees and architecture. There is something solid and timeless about both. There I go, using that word, again!

Favorite Local Restaurant?:  I really like Sugarfish! Nothing fancy but delicious and healthy.
